A lady on the lookout for calm on meditation retreat finds chaos after abbot sexually harassed her

A 20 12 months previous Thai woman announced yesterday that an abbot sexually harassed her at a temple within the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat whereas on a meditation retreat. The abbot denied the allegations and accused the girl of blackmailing him for money.
The lady recounted the incident with Channel 7 yesterday. She asserted that the abbot subjected her to repeated cases of sexual harassment during her nine-day dhamma retreat, prompting her to cut quick her programme ahead of schedule.
The lady claimed that she planned to stay on the temple for nine days to fulfil a vow she made after benefitting from some good fortune. One day, the abbot used his ft to poke her backside whereas she was meditating.
Then, the abbot inappropriately touched her face, causing her to insist on leaving the temple’s premises. The abbot denied her request, asserting that the auspicious time for departure was yet to come and urged her to wait for 2 days.
While she was ready to go away the temple, another sexual assault occurred. The girl said that the abbot broke into her bathroom while she was taking a shower. She complained about his behaviour and immediately referred to as her mom to pick her up at the temple.
The abbot denied the allegation made by the woman and insisted that he all the time abided by monkhood guidelines and laws. The abbot additionally accused the woman of attempting to blackmail him for cash and alleged that she was concerned with an influential drug gang in the space.
Covert clarified that the lady had entered the retreat alongside 23 other individuals and she chose to deviate from the departure schedule. She supposed to finish the complete nine-day retreat, a choice he and the opposite monks accommodated.
The abbot also blamed the girl for violating several rules of the temple. She did not correctly enrol within the retreat program, uncared for her assigned duties, and invited unauthorised family members onto the temple premises.
The abbot insisted that he did not sexually harass the lady. He added he chased her away from the temple because of a rule violation.
The girl filed a legal criticism in opposition to the abbot. Following her media interview, she lodged an official grievance at Pipoon Police Station and formally reported the incident to the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Abbot.
